Fauna Svalbardu jest stosunkowo uboga w gatunki ze względu na surowy klimat, izolację geograficzną i niewielką ilość dostępnego ekosystemu lądowego. Niemniej jednak, te zwierzęta przystosowały się do życia w trudnych warunkach arktycznych i stanowią integralną część unikalnego ekosystemu Svalbardu. Ochrona tych gatunków i ich środowiska jest kluczowym elementem zarządzania ochroną przyrody na tym archipelagu.

The fauna of Svalbard is relatively limited in species diversity due to the harsh climate, geographical isolation, and the small amount of available terrestrial ecosystems. Nonetheless, these animals have adapted to life in the challenging Arctic conditions and are an integral part of Svalbard’s unique ecosystem. Protecting these species and their habitats is a crucial component of nature conservation management in this archipelago.
